Self-limited, childhood exanthem occurring in characteristic distribution and associated with multiple infectious agents
Pathogenesis
Associated with mostly viral agents, including hepatitis B, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), coxsackievirus and other enteroviruses, parainfluenza virus, parvovirus B19, poxvirus, cytomegalovirus (CMV), human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6); some occurrences follow
