Definition
Biologically active products of the enzymatic cascade whereby cyclooxygenases (PGH synthases) and 5-lipooygenase incorporate arachidonic acid as the initial substrate. Subsequent sequential enzymatic reactions yield biologically active prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
